Outdoor Care:
Sun will eventually break down the protective polyurethane coating on our products allowing moisture to come in contact with the steel. Many people choose to let nature take its course and let the steel age naturally. For those who don't, keep reading!
If you choose to preserve the patina, you may do so by spraying the piece periodically with additional coats of polyurethane. How often the piece needs to be recoated depends on its location. Somewhat sheltered and out of the sun, one coat each year may be enough. In full sun, exposed to the elements, you may want to coat three to four times annually.  Spray polyurethane is available at most hardware and home improvement stores.

Comes with built-in hanging mount

Lightweight steel construction — magnetic surface

Each sign is sealed with a clear coat of polyurethane to protect

For outdoor use we recommend a thorough coating of a clear, flat spray paint made for metal, applied at least once a year.

Even with a clear coat, natural changes to the finish will occur with outdoor use.

Prairie Dance

While on vacation with her husband and another couple, Terri and her friend were attracted to some metal sculptures fashioned from aged metal. The husbands, not relishing the idea of transporting the art home, responded "Well we can do that." True to their word, the husbands were able to help craft the new designs, but experiments to age the metal had failed. Then, tired, hot, and frustrated, Terri applied a solution of vinegar and water to the sculptures lying on the garage floor and walked away. Overnight, a combination of elements imparted a patina more unique than Terri had ever seen. It took Terri months to figure out just what worked that night, but through trial and error she was able to replicate the process and in 1997 Prairie Dance was born. Today Prairie Dance is produced by Terri and her small but dedicated staff.
